Student Well-Being Hub

Excellence. Service. Collaboration.

Student Well-Being Hub

The Student Well-Being Hub is an exciting new campus addition designed to unify and elevate student wellness services across the University. This collaborative space will bring together four key departments – the Counseling Center, Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services (CRIS), Health Promotion & Wellness (HPW) and the Camellia Center – in one central location, providing students with a holistic, accessible and integrated approach to health and well-being.

Our goal is to create a space that supports every aspect of student life – mental, emotional, physical, and social – by embedding wellness into the broader culture of our campus.

Message from the VP

Dr. Steven Hood

At The University of Alabama, we are deeply committed to supporting the mental health and holistic well-being of our students. Over the past several years, we’ve made significant investments in programs and services that reflect this priority. I’m excited about the next step in that endeavor, the Student Well-Being Hub, where construction is already underway for opening in the 2026-2027 academic year.

This transformative space will bring together our Counseling Center, Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services, Camellia Center and Health Promotion & Wellness under one roof. Conveniently located on the Bryce property near the Randall Welcome Center, this central and cutting-edge facility will provide students with seamless access to a full spectrum of resources to help them thrive and succeed at the Capstone.

By co-locating these essential wellness support offices, we are fostering a more integrated and collaborative approach to student well-being. The Hub will enable our teams to work more proactively and synergistically as they support the ever-changing needs of our students, whether they are seeking counseling, recovery and advocacy services, a sober community and related resources, or health education and holistic wellness guidance.

This project is more than a building; it’s a reflection of our values and our vision for a campus where every student feels supported, empowered and equipped to thrive. We believe the Student Well-being Hub will be a cornerstone of that vision, and we invite you to join us in making it a reality.

Together, we can create a space that not only meets the needs of today’s students but also sets a new standard for student wellness in higher education.

Roll Tide,

Steven Hood, Ed.D.
Vice President for Student Life

About the Project

Holistic wellness is foundational to student success. The Student Well-Being Hub will serve as UA’s space to collaborate and cultivate a unified vision of student support where every student feels empowered to thrive.

Together, these departments reflect our mission to promote a holistic, developmental approach to student health – one that maximizes learning, growth and lifelong wellness.

The Hub also helps to fulfill a bold vision: to position the Capstone as a national leader in collegiate health and well-being, where wellness is not just a service, but part of the everyday student experience. We are committed to innovation, accessibility, collaboration, and creating a campus culture where well-being is embedded throughout programming, activities and classrooms all across our campus.

Looking ahead, contributions to the Student Well-Being Hub will:

  • Make wellness resources more visible, approachable and accessible
  • Fill gaps in care with new and evolving services
  • Prioritize prevention and proactive education
  • Drive conversations through research and shared innovation
  • Reduce stigma through integrated wellness messaging throughout the student experience
  • Enhance and expand our embedded services

This project is more than a building. It’s a commitment to students for generations to come.
